Treasure at Amorys: Malcolm Saville. Collins, 1969, revised edition.

This is a reread because I bought this without realising I already own a copy. On the one hand, that was annoying – I’m going to make more of an effort to acquire the Lone Pine books I haven’t read and/or got – but on the other, this is a hardback, and the copy I already own is a paperback.

Congratulations to Cam(eron) Norrie for winning Indian Wells the other week and thus becoming the male British no. 1. He’s one of the players who the freeze in rankings because of the pandemic didn’t help, and as I remember from Queen’s, has certainly been threatening to advance like this in 2021, and now he’s finally pushed through the barrier of winning a final, which much be all the sweeter as he did it from being down in the final set. Having said that, I see he’s out of the Vienna Open.

Skate School: Stars on Ice: Kay Woodward. Usborne, 2010.

There are fewer pages without italics on them than there are pages with. This is the wrong ratio. It’s not just the dialogue of teen ice skater Frankie and friends, it’s the prose around it describing her thought process.
