TENNIS: French Open - week 2 so far
Jun. 6th, 2013 07:31 pmMonday - week 2
I came home in time for the end of "the match of the tournament", apparently, (Wawrinka versus Gasquet) but I was glad that there was still a match to come. Except it turned out to be less than a match, Jankovic was determined to get it out of the way so she could meet Sharapova as fresh as possible, while Hampton just couldn’t keep within the lines.
Tuesday - week 2
I came home even later – just in time for some final words from the experts and confirmation of the results, so I watched the Tsonga and Federer highlights show the next morning on the computer. Based on that, well, Tsonga stayed at a good level, serving and playing aggressively, but Federer lost that, rather. (The other results weren’t a surprise, although Radwanska is seeded higher thn Errani, I thought Errani, a finalist last year, might be too strong/have a little more.)
Wednesday - week 2
I completely missed this, sneaked a peek at the results, saw that there was nothing massively shocking about them (sorry, Wawrinka).
Bother, as I feared they might, they're putting Nadal vs. Djokovic on first.
Thursday - week 2
I came home in time to see Errani win her only game in the second semi final against the awesome Sere$na Williams. Less than an hour! Er, Sharapova should make it more competitive, but I think that the desire to obliterate her memories of last year and knowing her career is closer to its end than its beginning is driving Miss Williams.
