So, as it turned out, all the ladies QF matches – to varying degrees – ended up being played under the roof at Centre. A heartening sign that the schedulers can be sensible! And at least all the semi-finalists will have some experience of the court. I’d kept an eye on the results and knew that Murray had dispatched the tired Cilic (good) and would be facing Ferrer who’d beaten Del Potro surprisingly handily. Williams beat Kvitova (I’m disappointed), and then I arrived home to see none of the German players seem to want to take it. I wanted Lisicki to win, because I knew more about her and she seemed to be playing more positively when I was watching, except in that game where she could have served it out, and Kerber, who had been in a sulky slump that seemed totally inconsistent with the scoreboard, started hitting out and controlling her opponent.

Then Azarenka vs. Pasckek, which was a high-quality match, and although Azarenka seemed to have a slight edge for most of the match, she wobbled at the end of the second, until finally getting a grip of herself in the tie-breaker. Oh well, she wouldn't be a WTA player if she didn't. Unlike the crowd, I wanted it to be over quickly, because I think Azarenka has a better chance of beating Williams, and, apparently, I don’t want Williams to win at the moment.

Besides, Wimbledon went on and did the sensible thing again, by putting on Radwanska vs. Kirilenko, deadlocked at 4-4 in the third, some five hours of play and rain delays after starting. Of course, it would come down to who settled best under the new conditions, but at least they would finish that night, giving them a better chance than otherwise. Kirilenko seemed the more settled, but Radwanska pulled off some brave and brilliant shots. Suddenly I don’t mind if she and Azarenka duke it out for world number 1 in the final (which probably means Williams will thrash Kerber to win again. And I may cry anyway.)

Furthermore proof of sense, as Djokovic shouldn't have major problems with Mayer, I think they've made the right calls with the schedule of play today. All the live tennis I saw last night was a bonus, so I hope the rain keeps away.
