TENNIS: Queen's - round 2
Jun. 14th, 2012 07:38 amI've been grumbling any sport that isn't tennis* for crowding the schedule and being on when I don't want to watch it the past few days. I finally saw some live tennis yesterday! I came home to see the tail-end of Tsonga's match and then had to go online to see Tipsarevic's until the buffering gave up. I also came home to the news that Murray had lost to Mahut. I haven't seen any of the match or read about it, but I'm sure that it feels unfair that the top seed was against someone who knows their way around grass and was in enough form to take a set off Federer and harry him at the French. Why couldn't last year's champion face a Plucky Brit a la Tsonga or a Lucky Loser as Tipsarevic did?
You could feel the blank dismay from the organisers/broadcasters. They have Tsonga and a few past winners/recognisable names, but they've no Murray to reach out to the non-diehards and compete with all the other sporting events that are on. Of course, Queen's is against the schedule. One can totally understand Nadal and Djokovic's need to recuperate.
*mainly football.
