WIMBLEDON: Last 16s

I didn't realise that Wimbledon was the only slam to play the last sixteens all at the same time (I suppose it's because, weather permitting, they take the Sunday off). I didn't realise because Wimbledon, being on home turf, is the championship that we get the most comprehensive coverage of, with the others, I think that the Beeb and Eurosport divvy up the show courts. I like it, it felt like the last splurge before things get more focused - I love the wealth of matches and possible upsets of the first week. In theory, the opponents become more closely matched and things get even more serious, but my main impression is of less matches and having to make do with mixed doubles until the finals arrive, as someone who can't watch the tenns live during the afternoon.
Yesterday I arrived home just as the Murray v Querrey match was just starting, which I thought was good timing. I have been under a misapprehension, I thought that Murray dropped a set in his first match, but he didn't, and of course, in this round, Soderling lost two sets - although Ferrer is good, isn't he? I'm not sure about his form this year, and I didn't actually see the match, but I don't think it's shaming. Anyway, Soderling vs Nadal sounds very tasty after the French on a different surface, a real test for the world no. 1 and number 2 seed to prove himself.
Back to Murray, the first two points were nervous times for me, but he remembered himself and...managed Querrey's serve, which I thought would be Querrey's biggest weapon. In fact, Murray played n excellent match apart from his serve. It really wasn't good enough, and it's amazing that he won so easily in one way. He'll have to get more first serves in (Rusedski was predictably saying he'd like to see Murray come in a little more, but without the platform of a big serve, how likely was that?) Some of the points were amazing, though. Tsonga will be another step up, and it should be an interesting and entertaining match. Berdych too should be a handful for Roger, but Djokovic ought to thrash Lu and find himself in the semis. All congratulaitons to Lu for taking the break (I kept switching between the Nadal match and the Roddick match) but no future expectations, despite Djokovic's dodgy form comingin and health issues.
Finally, the round up and the women had two match ups that wouldn't have disgraced a final. I hope Sharapova, and indeed Henin, builds on this. Serena's form, again, is fearsome. I expect her and Clijsters or Venus in the final, but all the other women have clearly been in form so, never say never, after all, did anyone foretell the Stosur v Schiavone French final?
There was no mention of titanium pigment in any of the tennis I watched yesterday. Hurrah!
