TENNIS: Wimbledon days one and two.

A part of me loves the opening days of grand slam the most, because there's a fizz of excitement. At Wimbledon, the courts are still fresh, there's an abundance of matches - great if you work, nd why did the Beeb deide to put its highlights on at eightish anyway, when, if the light holds, they'll go a good hour beyond that? There's the possibility of upsets, before you hav to face the fact that the seeding has more or less run true...

I've seen highlights and kept up to date, but the match I've seen the most of was Djokovic vs. Bennetau yeasterday. Tonight, I saw Murray also win in four (Federer and Del Potro did better) and Batalcha. The first two and the last game respectively were entertaining, anyway.

I only saw part of the match but I was rooting for Benetteau!

Murraymania spoils Wimbledon for me; I'd rather just enjoy the tournament without all the 'can he win?' stuff non-stop.

The Murraymania among other stuff because of the understandable parochialism of the coverage IS irritating. I'm glad we've got to that part of the first week where the weakness of the Brtish field hand-wringing has been done. As for the Murraymania, it's irritating, because he realistically could win, but the hysteria gets in the way, as you sy of the tournament. Although I really, really would like to see Murray and Federer play each other in the finals having seen them play, I'm watching the whole tournament for the journey to the finals!
