As I sit here waiting for the computer to open a document with a rough list of all the girls own books I won, and hoping the data isn't corrupted some how - oh, technology! - I'm going to go back to this morning's good news. A bag of my books was found in a relative's house. And in it were the Jane Shaw books that I knew that I owned but couldn't find (for nearly a decade!) I knew I'd read them, knew I had them somewhere, didn't subscribe to my mother's theory that I'd lent them to someone. And I couldn't really remember the titles, because most of them are parts of series, so they're all Susan Does Something Indistinguishable, so I suspect I may have a couple of doublers now. But still.

Also in the bag was Great Expectations, which I didn't miss. Now, if only I could locate my copy of Toby at Tibbs Cross, which has also been bugging me, and if only this dratted document would open.

It's great. It's been a little niggle that's been bothering me for years.

They did not return them for me because they were worth money you know... !!! What's the expression? People who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

That phrase sums my mother's nasty cousins up perfectly. I do not like any of them.
