WIMBLEDON: Last 16s
Jun. 29th, 2010 07:54 amI didn't realise that Wimbledon was the only slam to play the last sixteens all at the same time (I suppose it's because, weather permitting, they take the Sunday off). I didn't realise because Wimbledon, being on home turf, is the championship that we get the most comprehensive coverage of, with the others, I think that the Beeb and Eurosport divvy up the show courts. I like it, it felt like the last splurge before things get more focused - I love the wealth of matches and possible upsets of the first week. In theory, the opponents become more closely matched and things get even more serious, but my main impression is of less matches and having to make do with mixed doubles until the finals arrive, as someone who can't watch the tenns live during the afternoon.
