TENNIS: Australian Open 2026 predictions
Jan. 18th, 2026 03:08 pmFor what it's worth, as I should have posted this before, my predictions are: on the men's side, Sinner to win (because of his record here), but he should meet Alcaraz in the final (although all eyes will be on his results after the split from coach Ferrero.) It's what non-Serbian tennis fandom wants! And I see Alcaraz is through his first round match. Should either of them falter, I suppose Djokovic is still head of the pack until we see something different.
On the women's side, I've got to put Sabalenka (already through in her first round match) favourite because of her dominance here and because she's won a tournament in Australia already this year. It would do women's tennis the world of good if she met Swiatek in the final, but I'd not be surprised if we saw Anisimova, Rybakina or Gauff win, either, or for another player to do a Keys...let's mention Bencic because of her play at the United Cup. So, I think the women's side is more open, quelle surprise. (Ooh, Kostuyk is out already, as is Cobolli, who lost to Arthur Fery, although Cobolli's stomach might have been part of the problem.)
