TENNIS: US Open 2019
Sep. 10th, 2019 07:13 amI kept an eye on the results of the US Open, and noted that Nadal and (Serena) Williams were the last greats standing, although I thought the former a more likely winner than the latter. Medvedev and Andreescu had had good runs this season to get there, and apparently the first managed an impressive comeback and next gen bragging rights, while the second has had a breakthrough year. I can’t say I’d heard of her before, but by this point, even Sharapova might have hope if she were facing Williams in a grand slam final, let alone a talented, more fearless teenager. Four different winners of the ladies’ slams, while Nadal inches closer to Federer’s haul. Congratulations to him, Andreescu and Murray and Mattek-Sands, who won the mixed doubles.
