TENNIS: Wimbledon and Queen's (2013)
Because the formula is weighted towards last year’s result at Wimbledon, Nadal is apparently going to be the fifth seed, which even most of Ferrer’s camp would have to say was ridiculous. I can’t get all harrumphy and say they should return to the days when it was decided by committee, of necessity, because for the last however many years, the women’s seedings haven’t mattered desperately when it came to Serena, have they? It could be a tricky draw for the top male three, but I’d have thought it would be no. 4 versus no. 5.
I’ve seen very little of Queen’s so far.
I saw most of the first set between Del Potro and Malisse, but not its conclusion. ( Read more... )
If I was having trouble adjusting to the flight of the ball after watching clay court tennis for a mere two weeks, the players must be really adjusting.
I like the ballgirls’ frocks. And when the sun is out the clubhouse looks lovely.
