UPDATE: More to do with tagging than tennis

I meant to post about the end of the Australian Open, what I saw of it and what I thought, but I didn't get round to it. I saw the highlights of Murray's semi-final, the women's final and a three-minute round up of the men's final. Perhaps the last was for the best. I have noticed myself getting choked at the build up and endings of women's finals of late. Not during the game (although at least this final was competitive!). Perhaps it's because there's so little of women in such a context on our screens. Perhaps it's in response to the personal stories of the players.

Another thing I've meant to post about for far longer is my tagging system. Loath as I am to draw attention to my tags and the typos therein, I want to indulge in navel-gazing explain something. When I review books, I tend to note the setting(s) of the story: 'celtic setting: scotland; continental setting: italy, american setting: canada' and so on. So, I've split up Europe into the Celtic fringe, island groups and the Continent bar Brittany and the rest of the world by continent and then create sub-groups according to the nations represented.

There's one exception - England. I should have done something for consistency's sake, but my excuses are legion. It's the default setting for so many of the books that I talk about here and I didn't want to have to deal with the counties, because I'm horrible at English geography - I used to do all right playing along with the quiz show Fifteen-to-One until we got to Those Questions, where my blanket guess was Kent. I am probably hyper-sensitive about all this because I'm not English (I'm Welsh), because when I think about it, fantasy stories set in your Ruritanias are other exceptions too.
