PERSONAL: Free stuff and tennis
Sep. 24th, 2007 07:39 amOf the books that my parents had found for me, and which cost me nothing, the only girls' book was 'Shirley Flight, Air Hostess, and the Canadian Capers'. I'm pretty sure I don't have it, because I'd have remembered the 'Canadian Capers'! I also got plays, and then bought 'Antony and Cleopatra', which I've long wanted, second hand for £2. On top of that, I dot a new-to-me piece of furniture for nothing. It had been rescued from a skip, and there's nothing wrong with it. It's in a much better shape than the item its replacing, anyway.
I also didn't realise that last weekend was the Davis Cup weekend, so I was a little shocked to see Henman and Jamie Murray play at Wimbledon. I suppose it's a good thing I didn't know it was on on Friday, as there was no way I could have seen play. It was very weird and wrong to see advertising hoardings at the hallowed Wimbledon courts. Anyway, I saw bits of the first two sets and all of the last two. Doubles is always entertaining. And then, by the end, with the final fling of Henmania, it was all pretty touching.
