Oh, I must have got the wrong end of the stick, then!
I've definitely read 'The Pied Piper' but find I remember very little of it, so I'll have to hunt out my copy and add it to the rereading pile. I can't recall whether I've read 'Requiem for a Wren'. Although there's some melancholy and some very dark bits, sadness isn't the prevailing emotion in 'A Town Like Alice' and I thought it very readable.
