feather_ghyllYesterday and today's play: After all the build up – well, mainly from Andrew Castle, I was a bit disappointed that the tennis yesterday was on the red button. (I pull faces and say rude things about golf.) I saw that Simon, rather thrashed Ward – not a good match-up. Something that could be said about his socks and t-shirt.
Murray stood up to Tsonga and beat him at the last in the first and the second sets and thrashed him in the third. It was hilarious to hear 1000 Miles ringing around Queen’s of all places. Davis Cup is an entirely different, raucous atmosphere, and like the Olympics at Wimbledon, it was energising to see this at somewhere like Queen's Club.
I was looking forward to today’s doubles, regardless of whether Andy Murray played or not, although it was probably good that he did. Having said that, given what I thought of Tsonga’s volleys yesterday, I was surprised at his pick – they must be playing Gasquet tomorrow, then. I started watching midway through the first set and Mahut was excellent, but the Murrays settled and played their way into a higher gear. Eventually we got some really fun shots and points, like the overheads they just couldn’t put away, and the French duo were swept away in the fourth.
